- 1 1/2(400grams)cups basmati rice
- 400 grams chicken pieces
- 1 cup fried onions
- 1 tomato chopped
- 7-8 green chillies
- 1 cup mint leaves
- 1 cup coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp ginger chopped
- 1 tbsp garlic chopped
- 1 cup curd
- to taste salt
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 cloves,
- 1 piece cinnamon,
- 2 green cardamom,
- 1 black cardamom
- 3 tbsp ghee
- 1small cup milk,
- as required few strands saffron
- 1 hard boiled egg, chopped in to two pieces
Instructions to make to make Hariyali murg biryani
- Wash&rinse basmati rice and soak it for at least 20 minutes..take a blender add in mint, coriander leaves,7-8green chillies,lemon juice, ginger, garlic, cumin seeds 1tsp, 2tbsp fried onions, blend to a smooth paste by adding just 1tbsp water, add this green masala to cleaned chicken, add little salt, curd, garam masala, combine everything together well, keep aside for 45 minutes for marination.. note:you can marinate more if you have time.
- In a large bowl boil water, add in 2-3 green chillies, few mint leaves, add in drained rice and cook for 7-8 minutes that's 75percent only, drain it and keep aside, now we need to cook chicken,
- Keep a deep sauce pan on medium flame &heat up add 3tbsp ghee,add bay leaf,cumin seed, cloves, cinnamon, green cardamom, black cardamom, saute it for 2minutes, add in marinated chicken saute for 5 minutes, cover the lid and cook for 15 minutes on low flame..now open the lid spread rice, top it up with finely chopped tomatoes, fried onion layer, a small cup of milk and few, saffron strands,&boiled egg..cover it cook on dum for 5 minutes.. and it's done...!!
